The Meade County Fiscal Court completed the first reading of seven proposed zoning map amendments on May 4, following recommendations from the Meade County Planning and Zoning Commission after public hearings held on March 19.
The proposed changes involve properties across Meade County and address residential, agricultural, and business zoning. The goal is to support future development, residential use, and local business growth.
Among the requests considered were a proposal by Justin Defee to rezone one acre at 469 D.E. Brown Road in Brandenburg from R4 Residential to B2 Highway Business for office and maintenance use related to a tree trimming business; Raymer Brown’s request to rezone approximately 2.5 acres on Tom Brown Road in Vine Grove from split R1/R4 zoning to R4 Residential for replacement residential development; Perry Richardson’s application involving about 5.5 acres near Highway 933 and Close Lane from R1 Residential to B2 Business for future commercial opportunities; Amanda Manning and Barbara Manning’s proposal for about 3.84 acres at Rhodelia Road and Rhodes Road from B2 Highway Business to R1 Residential for new home construction; Brooke Medley’s request regarding two acres on Coleman Road in Ekron from R2 Residential to B1 Neighborhood Business for salon operations; William and Brittani Wilson’s application concerning three acres on Shumate Road in Ekron from A1 Agricultural to R1 Residential for tract division and development; and Quinn Shireman’s proposal involving nearly six acres on Midway Road in Brandenburg from R1 Residential to B2 Highway Business for a race car building business.
All seven requests received recommendations of approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The commission found them generally consistent with the Meade County Comprehensive Plan as well as applicable Kentucky Revised Statutes.
The next step will be a second reading before the Fiscal Court during an upcoming meeting at the main courtroom of the Meade County Courthouse at 516 Hillcrest Drive, Brandenburg. At that time, further consideration or final adoption may occur.
Residents interested in more information or copies of amendment findings are encouraged to contact the Meade County Planning and Zoning Office at the courthouse.
